Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism left him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
